Visualize some data provided by StepGreen

Gather some information approved by the instructors [StepGreen data is already approved, anything else you will need to run by us] and create a visual representation of it. Show that visualization to at least three people and ask them about their impressions.

Feel free to be creative.
  • You can do this in code or by hand
  • We prefer you use real data from StepGreen OR some other source approved by the instructors
  • Your visualization could involve software, hardware, graphics, sculpture, or any other grouping of skills you bring to the table
A good resource on information visualization to help spawn some ideas: http://infosthetics.com/ and ManyEyes

If you choose to use StepGreen, you will need to
  1. get a stepgreen account [you should already have done this]
  2. give us your username so we can give you access to the XML api
  3. click on "Clients"
  4. click on "Personal Use"
  5. read and accept the consent form
  6. click on "Developer Resources" to view documentation.
  7. Possibly read up on  XML

Each person in your group should write about
  • What visualization did you design? (include pictures)
  • Who did you talk to? Which person or people were you targeting?
  • How did they respond?
  • Why do you think this worked or did not work?
  • What would you do differently the next time?
