Go GREEN - Air Laundry

Our Green Initiative was to encourage students to air-dry some of their laundry by hanging up laundry lines and providing a supply of clothes pins, along with some persuasive use of posters. We also hung up a shirt or two of our own to set the example, making students feel like the lines were ready for use. We chose the laundry rooms of Stever House and Doherthy Apartments for implementing this initiative. The laundry rooms were then monitored to check the students response, which turned out to be pretty interesting. The students in Stever House, which is largely a freshmen dorm, responded positively with some of them using the clothes line to air dry bits and pieces of their laundry. Doherty, the upper-classmen apartments, was indifferent and not supportive of the initiative (and went as far as vandalizing our posters). We think we achieved moderate success, as we at least stirred the waters and bring the issue at the forefront.
